The World Language Explorer competition celebrates cultural curiosity and the confidence to connect across borders. Created alongside National Geographic Learning is a vibrant two-week journey that blends interactive language learning with fun, real-world challenges. Develop your communication, creativity, and teamwork skills while discovering fascinating global topics and experiencing the very best of England’s history and culture.

With a unique focus on environmental science and global awareness, this programme transforms English from a classroom subject into a tool for exploration and positive change. Join us this spring and become a confident, curious, and globally-minded communicator!

Programme overview

  • 8 three-hour sessions of English Language lessons using a National Geographic Learning syllabus

  • 1 overall competition and 2 challenges per week

  • 3 extended London excursions by train

  • 1 full-day excursion to Oxford

  • 1 full-day excursion to Brighton

  • Rich on-site activity programme to encourage use of English and nationality mix

  • Enhanced group leader programme including six-hour teacher training course

COMPETITION STAGES

Group Competition

Each group enters the competitions as a collective team. Each competition is scored and points are awarded to winning team. Points accumulate throughout the programme to determine the top two teams.

Final

Consists of the top two teams from the group stage to determine an overall winner.

SCORING AND PRIZES

Scoring

Points are awarded to teams throughout the two-week competition.

Final Prizes

The top two teams qualify to compete in a playoff in the final to determine an overall winner. There are, however, other prizes available! These include weekly team challenges, audience awards and individual achievements. All alongside the popular Fair Play award.
